Generator Goat Pasture Seed Mixes:
Recently there has been interest in suitable pasture seed mix’s for milking goats and to lesser degree goats for fibre production.
Although, to date, there has been very little work on finding suitable pasture seed mixes ,specific to goats, we believe below mentioned blend’s will work well for your goats. These basic suggested mix’s can be further enhanced with the addition of some of the suggested “extras”.
Within these three mixes there will be one suitable for your farm regardless of your location within New Zealand.

AR1 Midway Perennial ryegrass | New release from PGG Wrightson seeds. High dry matter production, mid flowering (+3 days) strong seasonal growth. | A goat specific pasture seed blend. This has been created for South Island and North Island regions without black beetle. (We recommend the use of Poncho Seed Treatment for seedling Insect protection) |
| Tenderly Cocksfoot | High dry matter yield, increased palatability and is less invasive | |
| Aurus Cocksfoot | Aurus is a modern cocksfoot with a soft and palatable leaf. It has high annual production and cool-season growth. | |

| Fog grass | Fog grass contains flavonoids and tannins both have been shown to improve stock health when used for stock grazing | |

Bareno Brome Grass | Brome grass is a perennial grass more tolerant of hot summer, poorly drained soils than perennial ryegrass. | A goat specific pasture seed blend. Contains no ryegrass or clovers.
